Boosting energy is a common reason clients come to me for Life Coaching. They want to feel good, get motivated and stop procrastinating. We all have many goals, daily to do’s and life dreams that we wish to accomplish. Having the energy boost to accomplish these many things indeed creates happiness. Yet, here’s an idea. How about turning it around… use happiness to boost energy, get ourselves motivated and feeling great?!?
Here are five ways to practice happiness today that are sure to boost your energy and get you going!
- Smile – smile at people as you pass them on the street. Smile as you write someone an email. Smile when you answer the phone. Smiling is easy and will naturally bring you into a joyful mood.
- Get silly – let your inner child loose. Skip down the street, giggle, play a practical joke on someone. Get up and jiggle, wiggle around and do a few jumps for joy.
- Count your blessings – make a list of all the ways you are blessed. Include your body, your home, your relationships. Remember all those little things too, that you appreciate and bring you happiness.
- Laugh – do things that make you laugh. Watch a funny movie, look up fun videos on YouTube, read jokes. Focus on what hits your funny bone and let the laughter bellow.
- Accept – instead of worrying about what you cannot change, seeing limits and impossibilities, or thinking negatively in general, embrace these two fundamental life principles instead: everything happens for a reason and everything is as it should be.
Wishing you loads of laughter, tons of silliness, smiles galore and energy to spare!

Hi Susan,
I love your theme this week! All laughter and smiles. It’s a good reminder that Happiness is not fleeting. It can be found almost anytime and almost anywhere.
Smile – great idea, we really can’t feel anger while we are laughing and smiling, not possible.
Counting blessing – look around, they’re everywhere.
Jump up and down and dance like a crazy person, it will make you laugh, smile and completely change your energy and the energy around you.
Thanks for the smiles and giggles
Dianne
Love your post Susan, made me smile and I love the part about letting the inner child be silly. Such a wonderful way for me to shift out of worrying and into Happiness. Allowing all parts to be present helps me not get stuck in one particular “Worry” part.
Many blessings for a Happy & Joyous 2010.
Daniela
Hi! I just stumbled across your blog, and I will be reading! I am a 25 y/o raw vegan graduate student (clinical social work, mental health therapy) with a progressive neurological disease. I preach positivity in my blog to my readers along with the raw vegan diet to combat disease. It has kept me going with such a painful condition.
Happy 2010!
