Sometimes there is something that we want to do yet we feel afraid. It seems natural to imagine the worst that could happen and sometimes this can be empowering if we use this visualization to see the fear isn’t that bad or to guide us. Yet, the danger of this activity is creating a habit of awfulising that will anchor the fear versus reduce it.
Next time you feel fear about something you want to do…
- Ask yourself “what’s the best that can happen?”
- Place a focus on the good reasons you want to do something and the many benefits that can result.
- Then envision yourself stepping into the activity while FEELING the good feelings that may come with your achievement.
This will boost your confidence and help you stay motivated as you accomplish your goal.
