Coaching Tip to Step Out of Overwhelm

by Susan Liddy

Do you ever feel completely overwhelmed by all that you have to do?! Amidst the panic, it’s quite a challenge to embrace the facts that,
  1. You are powerful, and
  2. Everything always gets done in the end.

Take a moment right now to look around you and notice the gifts, the beauty and magnificence that beholds you. YOU brought all of this into your life! Much of what surrounds you was created by your previous choices and commitments. And you know what? You didn’t do all of this at once! Take a deep breath and embrace a sense of relief, accomplishment and healthy pride for a moment. Doesn’t this feel good?

The next time you are in a panic remind yourself of all that you are capable of. It may seem as though you are unable to complete all that lay before you. Yet you are surrounded by evidence that you will!

During your next moment of overwhelm:

  1. Take a deep breath,
  2. Give yourself a hug, and then
  3. Commit to completing just ONE task at a time.
  4. Make a mental note of all you’ve already accomplished and be kind to yourself!

Boy Susan you hit the nail on the head with this one. I sure was in need of a pep talk. Had three grandchildren ages 6, 4, and 2 spend the night last night. Then today the other daughter came over with her 2 ages 4 and 2. I’m running around thinking of all the things that need to be done.

They finally all went home now I way feeling so behind that I was wondering were to start first. Thanks for putting me back to balance. I really need it.
Good ideas again and boy they are really appreciated today and were in need of.
Love ya lady,
Debbie

Yes, I think that most of us can relate to overwhelm! It’s so easy to slip into it, a slippery slope…. Thanks for your sound and wise advice as usual Susan.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked just like the woman in this photo! :-)
