Stress Free in Under 60 Seconds

Wow! Who DOESN’T feel stressed these days? The other day I heard someone refer to us as “Stressed Out Nation.” I won’t go into the details of the hows and whys, lets simply agree that everyone could use a visit down “childhood” lane to recapture that carefree attitude of days long past.

Below are 8 stress busting techniques you can implement in a flash:

  1. Replenish Yourself: Down a glass of cool water followed up with a snack of your favorite fruit. This will give your body an added boost so you can feel hydrated and a bounce of energy.
  2. Turn Yourself Off: Shut off your computer and all other electronic devises for a few minutes. Allow your brain to get quiet. Enjoy the silence. Just a few moments of silence can help you to recollect and begin again.
  3. Roll in the Hey: (Not what you think… but if you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking, that’s okay too.) Lay in the grass on your back and stare up at the sky. Roll from side to side before getting up. Mother Nature is the ultimate stress buster. Simply getting outside can do you wonders.
  4. Get Jiggy with It: Skip down the street, do a silly dance, shake your body until you giggle. These simple acts will get your heart rate up just enough to flood your body with energy.
  5. Be Here Now Belly Breath: Achieve inner peace with this easy breathing exercise: Fill your lungs to the brim with a deep inhale that begins at the bottom of your belly. Then, exhale from the top of your lungs to the base of your belly as you mentally chant “Be, Here, Noowwwww.”
  6. Crack Yourself Up: Laughing releases those “feel good” endorphins and lowers stress producing hormones. Get laughing with a visit to Ellen DeGeneres website and replay her recent video posts (or visit the website of your favorite comedian.)
  7. Get Shifty: Adjust your posture, shift your position, take a stretch. This will allow better blood circulation through your body, to transport needed oxygen and nutrients to where you need it most.
  8. Mini Spa Moment: Wrap a warm towel around your neck and gently massage your shoulders and scalp. A little self care can go a long way when it comes to unwinding and embracing your inner strength.

We can’t always avoid stressful moments, yet we CAN make the choice to let them go. By doing so you will feel happier, healthier and more peaceful. Try out a few of the de-stressors above and let me know how it goes.
