SURVEY RESULTS! What was the best trip you’ve ever taken?

by Susan Liddy

Ahhhh… Summertime! The season of relaxing, spending time with the family and taking those fun vacas! I asked my readers what their favorite trip ever was… here is how they responded. Enjoy!
  • Spur of the moment… lets get up and go somewhere! We would go to the beach or up north to the mountains, it never mattered! My children always loved when I did that! It was usually when they were getting on each other’s nerves which in turn lead to my nerves lol!
  • In September of 2002, we took a month long car voyage to the East Coast. We visited Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and many other places. It was a great experience. Our favorite stop was in Virginia, where we went to Williamsburg and then on to Virginia beach to visit Edgar Cayces ARE HQs.
  • 1995 – around the world for a year. 18 countries on 4 continents.
  • Jamaica with my mom – about 20 years ago. Would LOVE to do it again.
  • Montreal jazz fest for 10 days of endless parties and concerts! Back when the dollar was strong and everything was half price. Went out rocking with my mom who definitely an stay up way past last call when she’s there!
  • I love cruises because you pay once and everything is included and you unpack once and get to see several places. They really are the most relaxing vacations I ever take. But, if given a choice – Athens is my favorite city in the world. I love the food, the culture, the people, the beauty, the history, the meandering walks through the Plaka. It’s amazing!
  • It was 10 years ago on a Friday evening after work we wanted to do something different so we packed a weekend bag and went to Copenhagen. We stayed at a lovely hotel, had dinner at a nice restaurant. We went to as many clubs & pubs as we could that friday night and same thing Saturday. It was one of our best weekend ever! Everything was just unforgettable. This one stand out because it was a spur of the moment type of thing!!
  • A cruise (which I’m not a big fan) with a boyfriend. We were on the ship for 2 weeks and went through the Panama Canal, Venezuela and many others places. We had walkie tallkies and were like kids all over the ship. Each destination, we would find some off the beaten path excursion to do (sometimes scary). We were not your average tourists. I actually fell more in love on that trip than I was before leaving. It was quite the adventure and had a better appreciation for him…. weird…
  • I went to Australia 5 weeks ago and I loved it
  • down south when my daughter turned 21 (6 years ago) we had the best mom daughter time – the sun poison I got
  • Kauai in 2000. We stayed in Poipu and we took a boat ride to the Napali coast – just beautiful. Of course, I love Waimea canyon. My spirit feels at home on the island of Kauai – don’t tell my husband he’s been trying to move us to Hawaii for the last 5 years. I wouldn’t mind settling on Kauai, but not Oahu. <giggle>
  • 4th wedding anniversary. Totally spontaneous road trip to Split Rock Lighthouse in Minnesota. It was Autumn and the landscape was warm and gorgeous and we had the most wonderful time, just the two of us.
  • 1999 New Years holiday trip.. island hopping in Fiji and crossing over the International dateline in Fiji on Dec 31st 1999..First in the world to to bring in Y2K and the last…super cool and tons of pics…And Bonus: I Won this!!!
  • Our cross-country move from NJ to OR. In an RV. That I actually drove. (!!!) The highlight of the trip was visiting The Badlands (coinciding with our one-year anniversary) – it’s one of the most amazing places on the planet. Unfortunately, a few hours after that the RV caught fire and burned to the ground. So we lost almost everything we owned. Finished the trip in our Toyota Echo. Despite that tragedy, we traveled through so many states and saw lots and lots of our beautiful country.
  • I want to go too…take me :)
  • I think the best trip I took was to Kauai a few years back…I definitely would love to go back sooner than later…it is so relaxing there, both in the way of life and just the whole attitude…I love it
  • 92… Maui.. also very relaxing, helicopter tour over waterfalls on the west side was absolutely breathtaking! Would go back in a minute given the chance!

This makes me want to travel! I’d love to go on a cruise on October with my husband, to celebrate our 5th anniversary….but we just bought a new house. Maybe by October we’ll be used to making these big mortgage payments, and will be ready to splurge :-)

My favorite trip was to Maui; two weeks of walking on the beach, whale watching, swimming, relaxing, yoga….bliss!
